We are very excited to share with you our amazing slate of films heading to the 2020 Cinequest Film Festival in San Jose, CA this March! Each film will be having their World Premiere at the festival in the Drama, Thriller, and Comedy award categories!

The Mimic | US, Comedy
Synopsis: Based on a true story, this clever, intriguing, and hysterically funny feature follows the main character – ‘the Narrator’ (Thomas Sadoski) who is befriended by his young new neighbor ‘the Kid’ (Jake Robinson), after he joins the local newspaper team. Obsessed with the idea that the Kid may be a sociopath, the Narrator goes to extreme lengths to uncover the truth about him, and his wife, who he ultimately begins to fancy. Between long walks down the street, a twisted dinner date, and a car drive gone terribly wrong, the Narrator gets closer and closer to the truth about the Kid. But the truth, as he finds, is anything but what he expected it to be.

Fox Hunt Drive | US, Thriller
Synopsis: Alison, a down-on-her-luck young professional, spends her evenings trying to make ends meet as a ride-share driver. While wrapping up her shift, she decides to take on one last passenger – only to find herself in unexpected danger when she discovers the mysterious stranger is not who he appears to be.
Alison is cajoled into taking the fare against her better judgement, and when she discovers blood-stained jewelry and a gun in her passenger’s bag, she begins to fear that she may not make it out of this trip alive. Through a twisted and unsettling turn of events, Alison appeals to her enigmatic passenger for help. In over her head, she fights to get through the night by covering her tracks, avoiding the police, and ultimately discovering who her inscrutable passenger truly is.
In this villainous thriller, director Drew Walkup perfectly captures the eerie and chilling risks one takes when getting in a car with a stranger. Compounded with brilliant performances from Lizzie Zerebko and Michael Olavson, FOX HUNT DRIVE will keep you on the edge of your seat until the heart stopping end.

Take Out Girl | US, Drama
Synopsis: Tera Wong, a desperate 20-year-old Asian girl, drops out of college to help work at her family’s failing restaurant. With her mother suffering from back injuries, and unable to seek medical care at the expense of closing the restaurant, Tera decides to take matters into her own hands and parlays her Chinese food delivery expertise into a profitable drug hustle. Financially trapped in a crime and violence-filled Los Angeles territory referred to as the ‘Low Bottoms’, Tera seeks help from a local drug kingpin, Lalo. With the cash rolling in, Tera intends to move her family restaurant to the suburbs and go clean. But after a series of tragic events, the dream Tera built on a foundation of lies comes crashing down, only to realize that she and Lalo have more in common than she could have ever imagined.
Director Hisonni Johnson effortlessly captures the struggles that minority and low-income families deal with on a day to day basis. Showcasing storylines of systematic oppression of the working class, lack of access to adequate healthcare, the war on drugs, and addiction, TAKE OUT GIRL is a timely and gritty story of one girl’s fight for survival.
